Tonight I was lucky enough to attend a concert by the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. I was actually very impressed, liking it much more than I had imagined. It was nice that they changed their musical style after the intermission, going from more traditional music to a more upbeat, contemporary style. It was a treat to see such a professional performance, not to mention the respect and gratitude they displayed to the people in the audience who had served in the Armed Forces.
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit Duluth, MN, to watch my cousin participate in this year's 2007 NorthShore Inline Skating Marathon. It was a lot of fun to see all the skaters and being able to visit with family. I haven't ever been able to make this visit in the past, though my cousin has been in this event for the past 7 years now. It had been years since I had visited Bessie's cabin. It almost looked like I had stepped into a time-capsule, as things look just as I remembered them maybe 10-15 years ago!
